About IWICF

Integrated Well Integrity Competency Forum, IWICF, is an online forum designed as a learning, certification and operational platform on Well Integrity models including but not limited to Well Control, Well Integrity, Reliability, Failure Assessment, Risk Models and Well Barrier Management.

Lifecycle integrity is critical in well construction and management. Every well, irrespective of the type, environment and complexity, needs an integrated approach to well design, technical and operating integrity for all activities throughout the lifecycle of the well from concept to completion, during the entire production cycle and until final well abandonment.

IWICF approaches well integrity and safety as the top priority in designing, executing and completing a well. IWICF is designed to provide the means, information and knowledge to well engineers and well construction personnel to maintain high standards of well and asset integrity through a systematic approach to well management.

IWICF, using this platform as a foundation, provides a common global approach to well integrity management throughout the lifecycle of a well. IWICF is a coaching and reference platform to the assurance and competency for well engineers, operations supervisors, completion and well intervention personnel.

The IWICF well integrity philosophy delivers a systematic approach to the prevention of well control incidents during well construction and the life cycle of the well. Prevention is the fundamental goal for IWICF to avoid well control and well integrity related incidents and the need for complex and sometimes expensive management of such incidents.

NORSOK D-010
According to NORSOK D-010, Well Integrity is defined as the “Application of technical, operational and organizational solutions to reduce the risk of uncontrolled release of formation fluids and well fluids throughout the life cycle of a well”.

ISO/TS 16530-2
Well Integrity is defined in ISO/TS 16530-2 as: “Containment and the Prevention of the escape of fluids (i.e. liquids or gases) to subterranean formations or the surface”.

API RP 65-2
In API RP 65-2, Well Integrity is defined as: “a quality or condition of a well, being structurally sound with competent pressure seals by application of technical, operational, and organizational solutions that reduce the risk of uncontrolled release of formation fluids throughout the well life cycle “.

IWICF
IWICF defines well integrity as: “One of the top five most crucial components in the construction of an oil and gas well that demands the highest priority to achieve design, technical, structural, operational and organizational integrity to minimize the risk of uncontrolled release of formation fluids during all activities of constructing a well starting from the concept stage and throughout the lifecycle of the well until the well is finally abandoned safely and securely after its production life”.

IWICF understands that in order to follow and apply the definitions of well integrity, the engineering, design, operational and managerial personnel require a broad spectrum of knowledge with an expanded bandwidth on well integrity elements, barrier models and prevention philosophy beyond a certificate to be able to identify the risks, develop mitigation and apply solutions effectively to achieve safe lifecycle wells that meet the minimum requirement of the standards of well integrity.

IWICF hence provides a focused platform that will work beyond a well control or well integrity certificate to develop competency in holistic and comprehensively encompassed models.

IWICF provides a holistic and comprehensive forum for industry professionals, corporates and learners alike and serves as a platform centered around Well Integrity and Well Control as the primary objectives.

The forum extends the learning tools and accessories for a full understanding of Well Integrity and Well Control principles and to develop competency through a systematic and custom designed Learning Management System (“LMS”).

The IWICF forum extends further to provide comprehensive solutions including integrity based well design, operating procedures, testing strategies, schedule and plan for audit and inspections, barrier design, review to validate well designs and well examination for integrity and safety.

The entire operating model of IWICF is on Cloud platform and backed by 24×7 technical and administrative support located in Dubai and India.
